CBA and Bengal Tigers Annual Cricket Tournament 2026

40 rules in 11 sections

Match Format

  • Each match will be 10 overs per innings.
  • Each innings has a 45-minute time limit.

Bowling Rules

  • Maximum overs per bowler: 3,3,2,2 (only two bowlers may bowl 3 overs each).
  • No LBW dismissal.
  • Byes are allowed.
  • Any delivery pitching outside the turf is a No Ball.
  • If the ball pitches on the turf then goes outside after passing the stumps, it is not a No Ball.

Powerplay

  • First 2 overs are the Powerplay.
  • Only 3 fielders may be outside the 30-yard circle.
  • No fielding restrictions after Powerplay.

Wide Ball Rule

  • International wide-ball rules apply.
  • If the batter moves toward the ball and it remains within reasonable reach, it may not be called a wide.
  • Umpire's decision is final.

Bouncer Rule

  • Two bouncers above shoulder height are permitted per over.
  • The third such delivery is a No Ball.

Water & Ground Responsibility

  • Organizers provide drinking water on the Final Day only.
  • Teams must bring their own water during all other matches.
  • Teams must clean the field after their match.

Umpire & Conduct

  • Only the captain may communicate with the umpires.
  • Umpire's decision is final on all matters.

Illegal Bowling Action (Chucking)

  • Captains or batsmen may report suspected chucking.
  • Umpires may call No Balls or suspend the bowler for the remainder of the match.
  • The player may continue batting and fielding.
  • The umpire may use a Bowling Action Assessment Device.
  • Umpire's decision is final.

Dress Code

  • Shorts are strictly prohibited; long trousers are mandatory.
  • Teams are strongly encouraged to wear matching jerseys.

Code of Conduct, Late Arrival & Player Eligibility

  • Misconduct, unsportsmanlike behaviour, arrogance, or rule violations may result in a 5-run penalty.
  • Late team loses the toss.
  • More than 10 minutes late: lose toss and start innings at -5 runs.
  • Minimum 6 players required at scheduled start.
  • Starting with fewer than 6 players: innings begins at -5 runs.
  • Late-arriving players may field immediately.
  • Players absent for the entire opposition innings cannot bat.
  • Arriving within first 3 overs: may bowl immediately when eligible.
  • Arriving after first 3 overs: must wait 18 legal balls after entering the field before bowling.
  • Umpires keep official arrival records and all decisions are final.

Match Postponement & Rescheduling

  • Postponed or cancelled matches due to rain or unforeseen circumstances will be rescheduled on a weekday after consultation with both teams.
  • Matches cancelled on August 1 or 2 will be played on Monday, August 3 (Holiday).
  • The committee aims to complete the tournament within the scheduled timeframe.
